Review of agenda

Mary Jane reviewed points made by the Bucksport coalition about membership, representation and distribution of funds. No decisions were made on future distributions.

Mission Statement - In which we set out to finalize our mission.

Helena distilled two statements from earlier discussions.

Discussion ensued over membership as defined in the missions statement.

May Jane and Sharon support the concept that all participants are sent up by community-based organizations.

Alternative wording was introduced accordingly

Helena - moved the verb portion of the statement "Working together to improve health in Hancock County" which passed

Discussion of Values and Principles Statement - In which we codify our values.

Number 4 was stricken and the methods portion of the statement was added to #7.

"We are committed to working together, coordinating efforts across organizational boundaries recognizing that our methods and work differ."

Note: There is no number 6 due to number errors.

Membership - In which we set forth guidelines for current and future membership.

Helena presented a model

sub-regional community coalitions - 3 or 4 members each

pan-regional and health organizations - 1 member each

Sandra Phoenix and Path present another issue - local community based organizations.

Mary Jane and Sharon recommended adding Bucksport Regional Health Center as a regional member, which was supported by the group.

Kim Horton suggested that Path is a circle within the Blue Hill circle.

The group endorsed the 6 sub-regions and 7 organizations.

Each sub-region will send their delegates.

School Representation

Should there be wording to express that the school has a reserved chair on the coalition? This seat may be filled by a coordinator or a school health committee member.

Final wording: "The coalition encourages that 1 of 4 community representatives represent the coordinated school health program." Approved by the group.

Next meeting - July 10th 12:00 - 2:00 at Ellsworth City Hall Auditorium
