3. Agenda Review

4. Mission Statement

Jim circulated the current mission statement as it appears on the web site. Doug wrote it out on the flip chart. As there were no comments sent to the ad hoc mission committee, and as the members of the mission committee were content with the current statement, no action was taken at this meeting. The mission statement will be taken up again at the next meeting as needed.

5. Membership

Question: Should we consider bringing other individuals or groups into HCCCP now or later?

Helena - one approach will be to have HCCCH be a coalition of organizations

Kim - We need to consider existing organizations and our overlapping roles. For instance:

- County coalition on Nutrition

- Three hospitals

- University Cooperative Extension / Master gardeners program

- Downeast Health Services

- Communities for Children

- Hancock County Dental Network

- Eastern Area on Aging - EAA

- WHCA

- Child and Family Opportunities (Head Start)

Kim - We may want to arrive at a definition of health.

Do we include spiritual leaders, mental health, physical health, safety, etc.? What about Fraternal organizations? Chambers of Commerce?

Vyvvyenne- Need to structure the organization first. Then we can invite others to join.

Doug - Can groups like University extension help guide HCCCP through its own definition?

A vote was held on whether to close membership for the summer, but support was mixed.

Colleen Minier proposed that members bring in specific proposals for membership. HCCCH will vote on each proposal in turn. This suggested was widely supported.

Barbara then proposed inviting the University Extension people. This vote passed

Barbara will invited them
