Press Release

The Hancock County Coalition for Community Health (Healthy Hancock) is sponsoring "National Parks", a 30 day exercise incentive. The program is designed to foster and promote physical activity by encouraging participants to become physically active.

All age groups are welcome to join the National Parks program to get fit and have fun as you "travel" your way to 8 of America's most scenic parks. Along the way you'll learn about the history and geography of these national treasures.

Each minute of physical activity (walking, tennis, weight training, raking leaves, etc.) during the 30 - day challenge will convert to miles to complete the 6,000 mile route.

The kick off celebration will be at our own Acadia National Park on Saturday, Oct. 19 walking the 3.9 scenic Hadlock Brook Loop. Meet at Brown Mountain Gate House at 10:15 a.m. A parent or guardian must accompany students 17 and younger. Free bus service available from Thompson's Island picnic area. Reservations are required. Call Health-Link at 667-2474 no later than Oct. 16.
